Ready for Sock Club

Tomorrow is the September Sock Club meeting, and I'm ready to go!

These are the July-August socks, Michelle Ogden's own River Ripple pattern. Mine are in Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport, in Tahoe.

I'm very glad I got the picture of them. Right after I took this, I put the socks on. Right after that, I had to chase the dogs through the woods and got the socks covered with burrs. I don't know if they'll ever be the same again.

Now I'm all ready for the September-October sock. This month's theme must be "beaded knitting," because we'll be doing the Beaded Swirls pattern from HeartStrings. This is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, in Embers, with some beads (168 of them, to be exact) I bought in Indianapolis.

I'm not sure how much of this sock I'll get done, since I only have two weeks to finish my socks to take to Germany!

The Secret's Out!

One of the most important catching-up things to do is to thank my fabulous SP8 Secret Pal, Melissa. I've definitely been well spoiled this summer, and here's the final installment. Melissa sent me all sorts of goodies, including some tasty cajun food, some yummy candy (both old favorites and new things to try), some soap, and some fabulous Knit Picks yarn. Until the new puppy came along, I was sleeping with this yarn on my nightstand so I could look at it. I don't know what it's going to be, but I'm looking for something special!
So now I've had a chance to check out Melissa's blog, and find out just how wrong I was on many of my guesses. But I got a few right, so I'll claim credit for that. It's funny - her blog looks familiar - I think I'd visited it long before she became my secret pal, but I don't remember when or why.

Now, of course, I'll have reason to visit more often. So thanks, Melissa, for a great summer!

Excuses, Excuses....

Here's why I haven't been posting much lately. This is the garage. The rest of the apartment looks almost this bad. Moving sucks.

I hope this is just a "before" picture, and that an "after" picture will quickly follow. No matter how bad the garage (and everything else) looks, I know where to find my knitting yarn!

FO Pictures

It's definitely time to start catching up. I've finished moving, the dogs are settling in, and I have a new power cord for my computer to replace the one Max broke. I even finished another pair of socks, but pictures of those will follow after I've bragged about these.

FO #1 is the "Folds of Function" pocket pouch from Folk Bags. I confess I haven't been very impressed by most of the books in the "Folk" series, but this one's different. I can't believe how many of the projects I want to make. I'm only avoiding starting several bags now because I know the library will want the book back soon!

The construction on this is really neat. It's a rectangular bag, and the shape is formed by the drawstring holes. It's made using some of my Lucy Neatby sock yarn, so now I don't have to worry about trying to get a pair of socks out of the skein.

FO #2 is the "Gull Wing Socks" from Socks Socks Socks. This is Regia cotton yarn, bought in Germany, left over from my Sock Pal socks. I've already worn them once, and hope we'll have a few more of those just-cool-enough days for lacy cotton socks.

This picture is all I have left of FO #3, Nautie. This was a gift for my SP8 secret pal. She's a big Muppet fan, and this was the closest thing I could find to a knitted Muppet. Besides, who wouldn't love a soft cuddly sea monster? I'm sure more Nauties will follow, but this guy will always be special, since he was the first.
