Socks that Rock

I can't stop thinking about them. I want Socks that Rock yarn SOOOOOOO bad. I want the "Rock and Weave" pattern. I want one of every color, although the "Xmas Rock" is at the top of my list.

This is unreasonable, of course. I've never had this sort of craving for food, but now I know how rough dieting can be. Considering I've recently been on a "yarn bender" of sorts, purchasing enough yarn for two sweaters, I know I don't need to buy any more. Did I mention that both sweaters are on the needles? As are more sets of socks than I can count. So I really don't need to crave socks for Christmas.

But oooh...I want this yarn. How long will it be before I give in? I must remain strong.

Sunrise? Blech.

I've started the Sunrise Circle Jacket, from Interweave Knits. I was really excited about doing this pattern. I cast on last Sunday, and now I'm nearly done with the back. Great, right?

But the back is about twice as long as it should be. I even knitted a gauge swatch for this one - my first swatch ever. It's OK as far as the stitches go, now that I've stepped down a needle size, but the row gauge is a disaster.

So now I see that the author is recommending that you knit the fronts first, and then adjust the back accordingly. Oops. Too bad the pattern isn't written that way. My thoughts turn to the Yarn Harlot's rant on errors in knitting patterns. This may or may not be an error, but it's definitely information I would have liked to have before I started.

I'm not going to frog it yet. I'll finish the back, then do a front and see what happens. I don't mind a slightly longer jacket, but I don't want to look like I'm dressing up in a grownup's clothes.
